London beckons, AJ and I will be on the road at the crack of dawn to begin our travels tomorrow, soooooo excited to see cousin (56 times removed, once it gets passed 2nd cousin I am lost) Michelle after 4 years. We are staying with her in Hungerford for 5 nights and then 4 nights in the hustle and bustle of London.
The door has been knocking with our dear friends saying their goodbyes. Isabelle came over on Saturday night and had a meal with us. We will see her in Rome when she comes to visit there. Last night Philippe and Smack the dog came and Philippe filled a spot at the dining table (wish you were here with us JR - only 2 weeks to go), it is always so good to see him. There was no need for goodbyes as he will take us to the airport tomorrow - thanks Philippe and we will see you in Burgundy ok!
Tonight Lucy will drop by after work for goodbyes but I am sure we will see her again, maybe even in Oz.
Yesterday AJ and I wandered into the city for the last time (on this trip anyway). I have so many happy memories of the things we have shared in Lyon AJ, thanks for being you and for being the best people watcher in the universe! We looked over our shoulders at the looming Basilica, high on Fourviere Hill, our last view of something so beautiful that has become part of everyday life here in Lyon. Alex stood drinking in Place Bellecour saying it was the most beautiful he had seen it. We crossed Pont de la Guillotiere and trod the well worn path to our door, going through the little rituals that we have taken part in while walking this path so many times - we said a long and heartfelt goodbye to a city we have grown to love.
Thanks for the memories Lyon.
